Tomorrow at the Mosaic we will be ending our friends series, and if you have not been at the Mosaic you have missed a series that has been great. For the last few weeks we been talking about friends, relationships, dating, and life. As we see the end to friends tomorrow my hope is that we can learn from this and move on to us it in our future. Our scripture has come out of John,
9 “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. 10 When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.11 I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! 12 This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. 13 There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command.
We really been looking closely at verse 13, and it says "13 There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." I believe so many times we read this and we say o man I am Jesus' friend and we stop right there, but if you were to keep reading in verse 14 it says, "14 You are my friends if you do what i command." I think so many times in life we say that Jesus is our friend, but we never act out what he is telling us to do. He says you are my friend IF you do what I command you to do.
Are you doing what Jesus commanded you to do?
My hope is not only for the Mosaic, Freedom, my friends, family, but for every person is that they will do what Jesus is telling them to do. That Jesus is my friend is not just a phrase we are going to say in church, but it is something we are living by.
